Pop Taoist & Palm Reader

These letters are actually black ants high on Absinthe.

Neonsandwich has 5 complete thematic catalogs of work representing over 250 completed designs (200 of which will be revealed over the years.) These works range from Digital Realism and Abstracts, Neo Qi Gong Paintings, to T-shirt Art.

Neonsandwich is the creator of the artform Pop-Taoism. Pop-Taoism is inspired by Neonsandwich’s 5 years of study with Taoist master, Dr. Wang Xue-Zhi, whose distinguished family history originates from the imperialcourt system of pre-revolutionary Beijing. Neonsandwich trained in the art of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, 5-animal Play, and Taoist Palm Reading (he has read over 3,500 people to date.)

Based on several years field research,Neonsandwich has taken the ideas of Jia-Taoism and merged them with western culture, mass media/mediums, cult of personality, and Pop, creating the new art form Pop-Taoism.

The Neo Lotus Series Under the Pop-Taoism artform, represents the first catalog. It is three complete sub-groups (the Revolution, Revolver and Revelation Lotus,) with finished sub-groups to be revealed in stages.
Pop-Taoism art is based on Cultural Anthropology, specifically Far Eastern studies, placed within a relatively modern context of popular culture and current events. The interplay of Yin/Yang philosophy and formal study under a Taoist master are key to Pop-Taoism. However, all Asian motifs, applied into a modern context, can quite possibly be referred to as “wild” Pop-Taoism. For example, Japanese Zen flower arranging with auto parts would be considered Pop-Taoist in nature.

Taoism in the arts is about eccentricity and discipline of craft at the same time. Yin and Yang.
